Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha along with residents staying close to the MES college at Zuari Nagar called on TCP Minister Vijai Sardesai on Thursday with a plea to address the issue of a huge housing project promoted by Delhi-based developers without proper drainage system in place.
The Cortalim MLA and the residents explained to the Minister with plans and drawings that they will be affected if the project is allowed to be completed without drainage.
Alina later told the media that the TCP Minister has promised to inspect the site next week and work out a solution. "The TCP Minister was kind enough to give the residents a patient hearing. I am confident that the Minister will work out a solution which will protect the interest of the residents, who have raised apprehensions about the project because of the drainage," she said.
The TCP Minister later pointed out that he has fixed an inspection of the project site on next Tuesday for an on-the-spot assessment of the ground reality. "The residents have explained to me how the project promoted by Delhi builders will affect them if drainage is not provided. I am of the strong opinion that any project that comes up should take into account the hardships and inconveniences that are likely to be caused to the residents," he said.
Sardesai said he would also inspect a hill cutting site at Consua in Cortalim constituency on the same day. "I had promised the Cortalim MLA on the floor of the House that I would inspect the hill cutting site, which I will do so now on Tuesday," he said.
