Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte said the State government could not have cancelled the Std 12 exams as there was no provision in the prevailing act.
“Under which provision of the act has the State government taken this decision to cancel the Std 12 exams? The Goa Secondary and Higher Secondary Board is an autonomous body and is governed by Goa Daman and Diu Secondary and Higher Secondary Act 1975.”
“In this Act, there is no provision to cancel the Std 12 examination. The State government will have to issue a separate ordinance to give legal sanctity to its decision of cancelling the exams,” said Khaunte.
