“We are in the process of finding a concrete solution on the fares charged by the tourist taxis in the State. I also feel, as a tourist I may be overcharged…,” Lobo said.
Lobo was replying to The Goan query whether tourist taxi owners also acted as troublemakers by overcharging the tourists.
The deputy speaker said there was no need for Ola and Uber cabs to enter into the State when similar facility could be started in Goa.
“We are working on starting an app-based taxi system in Goa. Things are moving fast and an announcement could be made sooner than later,” he said.
He said the tourist taxi owners also agreed that there was a need to rationalize rates and put systems in place to avoid problems to tourists.
“Even tourist-taxi owners and drivers are in favour of putting systems in place. Only few people are in disagreement but the issue will be settled soon,” he said.
