MARGAO

Even as the Margao Municipal Council seems to have put its act together to fight the raging fire at Sonsodo, all eyes are now focused on the joint meeting between the Margao Municipal Council and Fomento Green scheduled on June 4, with deputy Chief Minister Vijai Sardesai saying the meeting will

unveil the roadmap for a permanent solution to the Sonsodo imbroglio.

In fact, the Deputy Chief Minister pointed out that he intends to personally attend the meeting between MMC and Fomento Green on the Concession agreement.

The meeting is most likely to address all issues, including roping in a new player to resolve the issue. “Sonsodo is an endemic issue. On June 4, we will ask Fomento once again what they can do at Sonsodo. If they say the cannot do anything, they will have to go and a new agency will have to step in. If Fomento is part of the new system, its fine or else somebody will take charge,” he said.

To a question, Sardesai reminded that Fomento and its Chairman Avdhut Timblo is a Goemkar and is aware of the issue very well. “We will talk to Avdhut for an amicable solution,” he added.

Pointing out that Fomento has served a termination notice on the civic body, Sardesai said all these issues will be discussed on June 4 to work out a permanent solution.
