Chief Secretary Puneet Kumar Goel will head an Airport Environmental Management Committee for the Greenfield International Airport at Mopa. The committee has 15 members and is packed with State government officials and four officials of the airport -- Deputy Chief Executive Officer (Dy CEO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), Operations Head and its Head EHS & Sustainability -- are the only members who are not Goa government bureaucrats.
Apart from Goel, the other members drawn from the Goan bureaucracy are: Environment Secretary, North Goa Collector, North Goa Superintendent of Police, Civil Aviation Director, PWD's principal chief engineer, WRD Chief Engineer, Health Director, Pollution Control Board member-secretary, Biodiversity Board member-secretary and the Deputy Conservator of Forests (North Goa).
According to the notification issued by Environment Director Dr S Shanbhogue, the committee will have powers to induct more members and will have to meet at least four times a year.
