MARGAO: Margao police have arrested Haider Bepari, a resident of Sinquetim-Navelim, under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, Slaughter House Rules 2001, and various sections of the Goa Animal Preservation Act, 1995. He was later released on bail. The police have also seized the vehicle used to transport the bulls.
Haider was arrested based on a complaint filed by Bhagwan Redkar from Rumdamol. In his complaint, Bhagwan alleged that on July 31, Haider had illegally slaughtered two bulls and stored freshly cut meat in a pick-up van parked behind the government primary school at Telaulim, intending to transport it. He also claimed that another bull was found tied near the van without a tag and left without shelter.
