10th Covid death in Canacona

CANACONA
Canacona taluka recorded its 10th Covid-related fatality when a 66-year-old woman from Poinguinim passed away on Saturday.

According to sources, three Covid-related deaths were reported in Canacona since Thursday.

A 65-year-old man from Gaondongrim, who was brought unconscious to the Canacona CHC and declared dead on arrival, had tested positive. His close family members also tested positive, sources said.

Another person who had earlier tested positive died on Friday, while a 66-year-old woman from Poinguinim died on Saturday.

Six new cases were detected on Saturday, taking the overall count to 596 in Canacona, while the active cases are 144 and 440 persons have recovered from the virus.

According to sources, the Canacona CHC started giving Covid kits to patients under home quarantine since Saturday. The kits have been handed over to health workers at each centre and they are being will delivered to patient at home, added sources.
