Former ministers Milind Naik, Jose Philip D’Souza and Alina Saldanha were among the 19 candidates to file their nominations for the four assembly seats in Mormugao Taluka on Thursday.
Among the prominent leaders who filed their nominations on Thursday were former Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida (Congress, Vasco), former Cortalim MLA Alina Saldanha (AAP, Cortalim), former minister Milind Naik (BJP, Mormugao), former minister Jose Philip D’Souza (NCP, Dabolim), former MPDA chairman Krishna (Daji) Salkar (BJP, Vasco), Cortalim ZP Member Anton Vas (Independent, Cortalim) and Sancoale Sarpanch Girish Pillai (Independent, Cortalim).
Other people who filed their nominations on Thursday were Teotino Costa (RGP, Cortalim), Former Sancoale ZP Mariano Rodrigues (TMC, Cortalim), former Sancoale sarpanch Narayan Naik (BJP, Cortalim), former Sancoale sarpanch Sharan Meti (Independent, Cortalim), Fisher community leader Olencio Simoes (Congress, Cortalim), social activist Captain Viriato Fernandes (Congress, Dabolim), Premanand Nanoskar (AAP, Dabolim), Gajanan (Gaurish) Borkar (RGP, Dabolim), former MMC councillor Nilesh Navelkar (Independent, Mormugao), Former MMC chairperson Saifullah Khan (TMC, Vasco), Maruti Shirgaonkar (Shiv Sena, Vasco) and Andre Viegas (RGP, Vasco).
So far, a total of 22 candidates have filed their nominations, with Cortalim constituency with the most candidates (8), followed by Dabolim (6), Vasco (5) and Mormugao (3).
