In a big boost the Aam Aadmi Party, two senior leaders embraced the party on Sunday.
Senior BJP leader and Secretary of Gomantak Gaud Maratha Samaj Anil Gaonkar & Secretary of Mayem Bhoo Vimochan Nagrik Kriti Samiti Prof Rajesh Calangutkar joined AAP in the presence of Delhi Social Welfare Minister Rajendra Pal Gautam.
Rajesh Calangutkar is a lecturer in Business Management at Don Bosco, Panjim and also works as a resource person for National Education Policy (NEP) at Education Department. He is also the President of Gram Samiti and Marathi Sanskritik Kendra, Mayem affiliated to Goa Marathi Academy.
Speaking on the occasion, Calangutkar said, "a year ago, I came in contact with the Aam Aadmi Party coordinator. Since I myself have been working in the field of education for the last 20 years, I wanted to study how much work the Delhi government has done in the field of education. I was impressed by the work that has been done in the educational sector".
He said, "currently, only one person has become an IAS officer in the state. This does not mean that Goans don't have capacity to achieve. Because of lack of resources we don't see Goans in this field”.
In Delhi, Kejriwal government has developed such kind of syllabus from the sixth standard onwards that youngsters do not require special training. “Here we don't have skill based education. In Delhi's educational model the importance is given to the skills", he said.
Gaonkar on his part said, we have been receiving good response from Sanvordem for AAP. “Delhi CM Kejriwal is man of words. He fulfilled every promise that he made before the elections in Delhi”.
“Many are impressed by his vision. If his vision can bring a change in Delhi then it is possible in a small state like Goa", he said.
Gaonkar was a Personal Secretary to Vinay Tendulkar, MLA of Sanvordem constituency & worked towards his victory from 1999 to 2007, who is now President of Goa BJP unit and Rajya Sabha member.
He worked as Personal Secretary to Ganesh Gaonkar, MLA Sanvordem constituency & worked towards his victory from 2012 to 2017 and Personal Secretary to Deepak Pawaskar, MLA
Sanvordem constituency and worked towards his victory from 2017 till date who is holding an important PWD ministry portfolio in the Goa Legislative assembly.
Welcoming both the leaders, Delhi Minister Gautam said, "AAP has created a trust in the minds of people by fulfilling promises. AAP is the first party and Arvind Kejriwal is the first leader in the country who aimed to change the politics and worked towards it".
Speaking further he said, "earlier when Kejriwal used to give assurances, people used to think that these are chunavi jumla, but seeing his work today, Delhiites supported AAP. Kejriwal brought a lot of changes in education, health sectors and provided 200 units free electricity, free water supply, free pilgrimage".
