MAPUSA: In Calangute, police have arrested 34-year-old Biyanti Ganthiratna Mali, a resident of Madhalebhat-Siolim and originally from Odisha. He was apprehended in Bodkewad-Calangute on Friday with 2 kg 115 grams of ganja valued at Rs 2 lakhs.
The arrest followed a tip-off that drugs were being sold in Bodkewad. The police set up a trap, and when Mali arrived to sell the ganja, he was caught. The drugs were seized, and a case has been filed against him under the Narcotics Control Act.
The operation was led by PI Paresh Naik, with support from Sub-Inspector Parag Parekh, Havaldar Vidyanand Amonkar, and Constables Ameer Garad, Bhagwan Palyekar, Ganpat Tiloji, Raj Parab, and Pranay Gavas. Further investigation is ongoing.
