6 injured in road rage brawl in Calangute

Six persons were injured in a brawl over a road rage incident in Calangute in the wee hours of Monday.
Calangute police has booked five persons from one group in this connection.
According to police reports, the incident took place at about 5 am on Monday near the Baga Circle Junction in Calangute.
The complainant Gauresh Vernekar (19) of Bicholim and five friends were travelling from Calangute towards Baga in a Hyundai car, while the accused were travelling in a Maruti car in the same direction.
A dispute broke out after one group confronted the other group for failing to give their vehicle the opportunity to pass by.
The accused are alleged to have abused and assaulted the complainant and his friends. They also vandalised the Vernekar's car, before fleeing away.
The injured were later treated at the Candolim Primary Health Centre.
Acting on the complaint, Calangute police registered a case against the accused.
Meanwhile, the police have identified the accused and further investigation is being conducted by PSI Vishwajit Dhavalikar under the guidance of Police Inspector Lakshi Amonkar.
