MARGAO

Left red faced and baffled over the result of the election for the post of Davorlim Sarpanch, more so when the party had the required numbers in the 11-member Panchayat to win the election, the BJP leadership went into top gear on Thursday noon as the party put its act together to dislodge the newly-elected Sarpanch.

Moments after the shock defeat of Vidhyadhar Verlekar at the hands of newly-elected Sarpanch Menino Colaco, six members of the Davorlim Panchayat has moved a no trust motion against the newly-elected Sarpanch.

The notice of no-confidence motion has been signed by Saiesh Rajadhyax,  Vidhyadhar Arlekar, Herculano Niasso, newly-elected deputy Sarpanch Sampada Naik, Vidhi Vallabh Varak and Santosh Naik.

In the notice, the six signatories have stated that immediately after the election of Menino Colaco, the majority of the members have expressed no confidence in his leadership and functioning. “We believe that he does not enjoy the support of the majority members of the Panchayat, and therefore, as per the provisions of Section 53(1) of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act, 1994, we hereby submit this Notice of No Confidence Motion against Meniono Joao Colaco, newly elected Sarpanch of Davorlim Dicarpale Village Panchayat”, the notice stated, while calling upon the Salcete BDO to convene a special meeting of the Panchayat members at the earliest to consider and decide on this motion as per the prescribed rules.
