AAP implores Goans to break away from ‘high command’ culture

MAPUSA
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) appealed to residents of Calangute to free themselves from the shackles of the ‘high command’ and follow AAP which would work for the Goans.

“We have to dethrone this government that takes instructions from the high command and works for large corporate houses and against the interest of the people of Goa. We need a government that will work for the welfare of the people and preserve Goa for Goans,” said Rahul Mhambre, AAP convenor.

The AAP convenor was addressing a well-attended corner meeting as part of the ‘Veez Andolan’ in Calangute.

Mhambre said the BJP-led government in the State was collecting taxes from the people of Goa but failed to offer facilities in equal proportion.

“If the Kejriwal-led government in Delhi can provide free power supply to people drawing up to 200 units of power per month, then why cannot the Goa government do so? The Delhi government could provide free and uninterrupted quality power only because it’s an honest government,” Mhambre said.

In an interactive session, the AAP elicited views of the people present for the corner meeting. Most of those present said they would like to enjoy free and more importantly, quality power supply in the State.

Mhambre said the AAP would provide free power to those consuming up to 200 units of power per month and a 50 per cent rebate for those consuming 200-400 units of power per month.

He also said AAP in Goa will follow the Delhi-model of governance and provide several facilities like delivery of ration card and licence to the doorstep to curb corruption.

As part of the Veez Andolan, AAP plans to have 200 corner meetings in different parts of the State.
