Amid an ongoing investigation into a social media post allegedly insulting religious sentiments, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Goa has called for swift action against the culprits.
In a memorandum submitted to Director General of Police Jaspal Singh on Tuesday, the party delegation led by Sarfaraz Ankalgi, AAP State Vice President (Minority), sought urgent action into the incident.
“We are deeply concerned about the matter and its potential to disrupt communal harmony in Goa...We expect the government’s commitment to upholding the law and justice in the State, especially considering its ‘double engine’ approach. If CM Pramod Sawant stands in solidarity with the minority community of Goa, he should implement strong measures,” Ankalgi said.
AAP Youth Wing State Vice President Salman Sheikh has further appealed to the Muslim community not to respond aggressively to this incident citing the party’s trust in the police. The police have already made one arrest, of a youth from Valpoi, in the case.
