The accident has drawn attention to the frequent sight of trucks and containers parked along highways, a practice that becomes particularly hazardous at night due to poor visibility.
Residents argue that unauthorised parking on highways poses a severe risk to motorists and have urged authorities to take immediate action against the offenders.
"These parked vehicles are a death trap, especially in the dark. Drivers who leave their vehicles on the highway should face strict penalties," said a local resident.
The authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident and implement measures to address the issue.
Meanwhile, citizens have emphasised the urgent need for better lighting, warning signs, and rigorous monitoring to ensure the safety of commuters on Goa's highways.
