Chief Minister Pramod Sawant told the Goa legislative assembly that the government is yet to finalise the appointment of the president and additional president of the Administrative Tribunal, although the tribunal is currently being presided over via an appointment made on deputation.
In a written reply to a starred question posed by Curtorim MLA, Aleixo Reginald Lourenco, Sawant, who holds the law portfolio, said interviews were previously conducted in September 2021 to fill the president’s post, but no candidate was found suitable.
Subsequently, a selection committee constituted on August 1, 2024, comprising the senior-most judge of the Bombay High Court at Goa as chairperson and the Chief Secretary and Law Secretary as members, could not meet due to administrative reasons.
Later in September last year, the selection committee was reconstituted with Justice Bharati Dangre, the senior-most judge of the Bombay High Court at Goa, as Chairperson and Chief Secretary Dr V Candavelou and Law Secretary Sandip Jacques as members, he said.
The Justice Dangre-led panel then conducted interviews on October 8 and 9 last year and submitted its minutes to the government, and the matter is under the government's consideration, Sawant said.
