Another ganja plant found in Smart City

PANAJI

In yet another shocking discovery, a second cannabis (ganja) plant has been found today growing amid the ornamental plants along the specially designed wedges of the footpaths in Smart City.

It's the same footpath which was refurbished, along with other stretches, as part of the Smart City project at St Inez. The Anti Narcotic Cell (ANC) officials have been alerted yet again.

A first cannabis plant was found in similar circumstances in the parking lot outside Caculo Mall, last Saturday. The ANC officials had rushed to the site, uprooted the plant, and seized it under panchanama for further analysis.

The ANC sleuths informed that there was only a single plant which was only half grown and did not have any ganja grown on it yet.

However, ANC registered FIR against unknown person/s for cultivation which is also a punishable offence under the NDPS Act.

The Police are further investigating and rounding up previous accused persons involved in the trade.

It remains unclear how the cannabis plants are being deliberately grown or 'accidentally' grown on the busy streets of Panaji.
