Biker crushed to death in hit-and-run at Sancoale

PANAJI: A 32-year-old two-wheeler rider lost his life in a hit-and-run accident this morning, opposite the main gate of the BITS Pilani Goa campus, in Zuarinagar, Sancoale.

The deceased has been identified as Pravin Shirolkar, a Baina resident originally from Kolhapur. He was employed with Cipla at the Verna Industrial Estate.

According to police, Shirolkar was heading towards Verna when the incident took place. A truck and a tanker were travelling along the same stretch at the time. Eyewitnesses stated that he allegedly attempted to move ahead amid the flow of heavy vehicles, during which he is believed to have lost balance and fallen under the rear wheel of the truck, which killed him on the spot.

The truck driver reportedly left the scene immediately after the accident but later appeared at the Verna police station. The vehicle has been seized for inspection. Police have registered a case and are investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal mishap.
