Apart from its focus on winning both the Lok Sabha seats, the ruling BJP has also aimed at increasing the party’s vote share by over 10 per cent in the next parliamentary elections, scheduled in March-April 2024. The party’s vote share in the 2019 election was around 51 per cent.
At the day-long meeting of its office-bearers held on Thursday, the party has decided to chalk out micro level plans, as decided during the National office bearers meeting last week, to increase the vote share with contribution coming in from each partymen including Ministers and MLAs.
Sources informed that during the recent meeting at the national level, the senior leaders including the Prime Minister Narendra Modi chalked out key strategies ahead of the election with prime focus on increasing the party’s vote share by 10 per cent and ensuring a win that should be bigger than its 2019 performance, when the BJP had bagged 303 seats.
“The wave is in our favour. Despite losing in Manipur and Telangana, the party managed to increase its vote share and seats. We have to replicate this across India for the parliamentary polls and Goa is not an exception. We will see that we reach out to the last person of this society,” sources said.
Emerging from the meeting, BJP MLA Michael Lobo said that the party has decided to reach out to every voter, the poorest poor of the society and listen to their grievances and resolve it. “We will also be launching Gaon chalo, Ghar chalo abhiyan shortly,” he said.
Addressing media persons post meeting, BJP State President and MP Sadanand Tanavade said that a report in lines with what was discussed at the national office bearer meeting was presented to the State office bearers. “Focus was on the party's preparation for the Lok Sabha polls. How to further strengthen and build organization to ensure the party wins both the seats,” he said.
The meeting unanimously resolved to win both the seats- North and South, with complete majority, Tanavade said, informing that no discussion was held on candidate finalization. “The process to finalize the candidate will commence in January and it is decided by the parliamentary board. The State unit has no role to play. The names of the candidates would be announced once the election dates are declared,” he said.
During the meeting, the party passed a political resolution, moved by Health Minister Vishwajit Rane, congratulating the Prime Minister over the success of general elections held in five states.
