Preparations are in full swing for the popular Bodgeshwar Zatra, which will commence on January 12 at the Shree Dev Bodgeshwar Temple in Mapusa.
The annual festival, known to attract devotees from across Goa and beyond, is expected to run for 15 to 16 days this year.
The Shree Dev Bodgeshwar Temple Committee, in collaboration with the Mapusa Municipal Council (MMC), has outlined a comprehensive plan to ensure the festival is conducted smoothly.
Temple committee president Anand Bhaidkar announced that around 1,200 stalls, including a designated food court, will be set up in the open space in front of the temple to cater to the influx of visitors.
To address traffic and logistical challenges, parking arrangements have been made at three locations near the festival site.
Temporary outposts for electricity, police, traffic police, and municipal services will also be established to provide seamless support during the event.
“The roads will be managed to ensure smooth traffic flow, minimising inconvenience for travellers,” Bhaidkar assured.
He also emphasised efforts to provide quality facilities for visitors and stall operators alike.
As one of the most prominent festivals in Goa, the Bodgeshwar Zatra is expected to draw a large crowd from within and outside the State.
The temple committee has coordinated plans to facilitate the daily pujas performed by various groups during the festival.
Both the temple committee and the Mapusa Municipal Council will be closely monitored to ensure effective garbage collection and maintenance of cleanliness at the site.
Meanwhile, the traffic police and local administration will oversee the management of vehicular movement on the two main roads leading to the temple.
With all preparations nearing completion, organizers are optimistic about providing a well-organised and memorable experience for the thousands of devotees expected to attend.
