Brutal attack in Mapusa leaves two hospitalised, 3 arrested

In the early hours of Thursday, four individuals carried out a brutal attack on two men at an isolated location in Mapusa, police reported. Mapusa police arrested three accused in the connection late Thursday night, while one accused is absconding.

The victims, identified as Ahmed Devadi (30) from Laxminagar, Housing Board, Mapusa, and Sandesh Salkar (28) from Moira, were reportedly assaulted with iron rods.

Both men sustained serious head injuries and are currently recuperating in the intensive care unit at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. One of the victims remains in critical condition.

Police suspect that previous enmity may have motivated the attack, but are awaiting further investigation to uncover the exact details. Mapusa DySP Sandesh Chodankar stated that the assault occurred around 3:30 am near an overhead water tank at the Housing Board in Mapusa.

Three of the four suspects who have been arrested are Shridhar Killedar, Abhishek Pujari and Manthan Chari.
