Two unknown women snatched a mangalsutra worth around Rs 3.5 lakh from a bus passenger in the city on Sunday.
In a swift action, the Margao police have nabbed one of the accused women, believed to be a native of Delhi.
Priya, wife of Premanand Kotarkar, a resident of Sao Jose de Areal, lodged a complaint stating that on Sunday at 2 pm, when the bus she was travelling in reached the junction at Calconda near the starting point of the overbridge in Margao, two unknown women -- who were also travelling in the same bus -- suddenly grabbed and snatched her mangalsutra, valued at Rs 3.5 lakh, and ran away.
The duo also took away Rs 2,000 in cash, the complainant said.
After the investigation, the police arrested one of the women, identified as Radha, a native of Delhi, and remanded her to five days' police custody by JMFC (Judicial Magistrate of First Class) Margao.
During the investigation, the police also recovered Rs 2,150 in cash.
