The Goa Police force on Wednesday got additional muscle in its mid-level hierarchy with the Pramod Sawant-led cabinet giving its nod for creation of six additional senior scale officer posts in the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP).
"The cabinet has given its approval for creation of six new senior scale officer posts in the Goa Police department,” Sawant said at his post-cabinet news conference.
Additionally the cabinet has also approved 16 contract-basis positions in the department of Mines and Geology and two additional posts of deputy director in the department of Prosecution, he said.
Meanwhile, in yet another decision taken on Wednesday the cabinet approved the appointment of Dr Antoine D on a contract basis and he will be the first Principal of the new Goa College of Veterinary Science at Curti, Ponda.
Dr Antoine D, was a professor at the Pondicherry Veterinary College, in the former French colony of Puducherry but has since retired.
'Solution soon to
ore transport row'
Meanwhile responding to a query during the news conference on the ongoing imbroglio at Pilgao related to transportation of iron ore, Sawant said, a solution will come soon.
He said, a deputy director level officer is continuously engaging with locals and discussions are going on.
"A solution will come soon," Sawant said.
