Call for enhanced monitoring of mining pits to prevent disasters

Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye has called for increased monitoring of mining pits to prevent potential landslides and flooding in surrounding areas. During a recent legislative session, Shetye expressed concern over the safety and environmental impact of mining activities in his constituency.

In response, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured the House that a team from the disaster management department is actively visiting the mining sites. Sawant confirmed that the team is also overseeing the conditions of mining dumps to ensure safety and mitigate risks.
