The market committee of the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) is likely to impose restrictions at the municipal market in the wake of a sharp rise in Covid cases across the State.
The CCP mayor, commissioner and CCP market committee chairman will take a decision on this at a meeting convened on Monday.
"Covid cases are increasing in the State and so, we have primarily decided to impose some restrictions on entry and exit in the market. Besides, timings to open and close the market will also be changed. A final decision on this will be taken on Monday after a meeting with the mayor and the commissioner,” said the CCP Market Committee Chairman Pramay Mainkar.
In April 2021, the CCP has imposed restrictions on the number of people in the market due to a rise in Covid cases during the second wave.
The CCP Market was closed at 6.30 pm at that time, while fish and meat outlets were also closed for some time.
For now, there are no restrictions as far as entry to the CCP market is concerned and people have been found flouting social distancing norms.
