Union Minister of State for Agriculture, Shobha Karandlaje on Thursday said the Central government is keen that an integrated agriculture university is set up in Goa and will support the State government in establishing it.
Karandlaje who is on an official visit to the State was speaking at an event at the ICAR, Ella where she interacted with officials and also local farmers.
"An Integrated agriculture university is needed in Goa. The Central government will help the Goa government to set up one,” Karandlaje said.
She also said that the Centre is also keen that an Agriculture and Horticulture College is set up in the State.
At the ICAR's centre at Ella, Old Goa, Karandlaje interacted with several officials both from the central research organisation as well as the State's agriculture department. She also met with several local farmers and also felicitated a progressive farmer from Parra, Darshana Pednekar.
Pednekar has been experimenting and employing modern farming practices to increase productive and make her farming foray lucrative and sustainable.
