Churchill draws parallels between own career and Vijay’s rise in Tamil Nadu

Former Chief Minister Churchill Alemao on Monday extended his best wishes to newly elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C Joseph Vijay, saying that while he was the first Catholic Chief Minister of Goa, Vijay has earned the distinction of becoming the first Christian Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.
Comparing his entry into politics with that of the newly elected Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Churchill said he had no political background before he made it big in politics.
“The Konkani language agitation brought me into politics in the late 80s. Similarly, Vijay had no political background other than being the superstar of Tamil cinema,” he said.
He added: “The people of Tamil Nadu have placed their trust and faith in Vijay. I am confident that he would provide good administration to the people of the state.”
