Finally, the much-awaited Coastal Belt Sterilisation Camp 2025 will be launched at Colva on Tuesday morning.

The camp, which will be conducted by Mission Rabies and Worldwide Veterinary Services, will be launched at the Fisheries sub-office at Colva on Tuesday morning.

Welcoming the initiative, Cavelossim Sarpanch Dixon Vaz has thanked the government, including the Tourism Department and the Department of Animal Husbandry, for the initiative along Salcete's coastal belt.

In fact, the Cavelossim Sarpanch, along with citizens, was seen creating awareness among the shack owners at Cavelossim-Mobor about the camp, which will kick off on April 1 and culminate on April 19.

“The coastal belt has seen a big rise in the number of stray dogs in recent months. We have witnessed an increasing number of dog bite cases along the belt. This camp was long overdue. We are thankful to the Animal Husbandry Department and the Tourism Department for the initiative,” he said.

Saying that the Cavelossim-Mobor beach belt had seen a number of incidents of attacks by dogs on visitors, including foreign tourists, Dixon has sought the cooperation of the tourism stakeholders and the citizens to curb the menace of stray dogs on the beach belt.
