Hundreds of citizens were found standing in a queue at the South Goa Collectorate building on Friday to seek an appointment for the updation of their Aadhaar card details.
The situation prompted the Congress to issue a warning to the Infotech Corporation to either step in immediately or face a stir.
What has left the Congress leaders Everson Vales and Savio Coutinho agitated was the fact that while hundreds of citizens from South Goa are forced to stand in a huge queue, influential politicians are organising Aadhaar camps in their respective constituencies.
Everson Vales said the Congress workers would be forced to gherao the Infotech Corporation chairman and officials if staff from the Aadhaar office housed at the South district Collectorate are deputed to hold Aadhaar camps in the constituencies of politicians.
He further demanded to know how the authorities have fixed only one day for citizens to seek appointments for Aadhaar updation. “This is not acceptable since there are hundreds of people who come for updation. People cannot be forced to go to the camps organised by politicians,” Vales added.
Savio Coutinho also echoed similar sentiments, even as he demanded that the authorities streamline Aadhaar updation in the district.
