The Cyber Crime Cell of Goa Police is investigating a complaint of financial fraud by a cybercriminal operating from Bangkok, Thailand.
As per a complaint by Hipolito Fernandes and Johnson Fernandes, a person who identified himself as Kanyanat convinced them to buy Italy-made Line Array Speakers, as he contacted the victims through his WhatsApp number.
While the speakers were not delivered to the complainants, the accused was already transferred Rs 5.17 lakh approx in different transactions.
“The accused convinced the victims to buy the Italy-made speaker and made them transfer the money into different bank accounts. On realising they were cheated, the victims lodged a complaint with the Cyber Crime Cell against the criminal. We are investigating the case,” a police officer said.
