The Rawanfond traffic junction has come under the scanner of motorists and local residents as heavy vehicles continue to ply on the Navelim-Rawanfond road despite the inauguration of the Margao Western Bypass around two and a half months ago.

Even as locals questioned how heavy vehicles, including loaded tankers, are still using the Navelim-Rawanfond road when the Western Bypass is open to vehicular traffic, the Rawanfond junction has come under strain due to damage caused by these heavy vehicles.

A local resident, Dinesh Kakodkar, informed that the junction is in a damaged state as heavy vehicles hit the junction while taking turns. He questioned why heavy vehicles are still plying on the Navelim-Rawanfond road despite the inauguration of the Western Bypass. “Either heavy vehicles should be diverted to the Western Bypass, or the width of the Rawanfond traffic junction should be reduced to facilitate easier turns for heavy vehicles at the junction,” he added.
