The two D’s “ defection and development “ will set the agenda for 2022 assembly polls in Siolim and the disillusioned voter has a choice between AAP’s Delhi model of development and the AAP candidates’ affidavit against defection and Congress’ penchant towards defection and BJP’s failed development model, said Vishnu Naik, AAP candidate of Siolim.
Naik, on Wednesday, also said that people of Siolim will not get carried away with allurements of any form offered by some candidates on the eve of elections.
“People are angry against the former MLA Vinod Paliencar who got elected by campaigning against the BJP but did a ‘u’-turn and joined the BJP-led government thereby breaking the trust of the people. People are also aware that Congress candidate Delilah Lobo’s husband Michael was instrumental in getting the 10 Congress MLAs to defect into BJP in the last election,” Naik said.
The AAP Siolim candidate was addressing a news conference along with his supporters in his office in Siolim.
Continuing, Naik said people of Siolim were aware that despite being in power for two decades the BJP has failed to bring about the desired development in the constituency.
“Parts of Siolim are still facing acute water shortage while several educated youth are unemployed. Erratic power supply and bad roads continue to annoy the citizens in the village. All this is happening because we have been electing defectors and the same face continuously. People should teach such candidates a lesson,” he said.
Giving the example of the AAP government in Delhi, he said, AAP first came to power with 28 MLAs and then with 67 and 62 legislators and none of them have defected.
He further said that since all the AAP candidates have signed an affidavit to remain loyal to the party, anyone can take legal action against AAP MLAs if he or she defects.
