Digambar puts to rest rumours of him joining BJP

MARGAO
Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat was in a huddle with Margao Municipal Chief Officer Agnelo Fernandes and other civic officials on Wednesday noon when news over the imminent entry of former Chief Minister and Congress MLA into BJP was spreading like wild fire across the state.

As the news took the social media by storm, the focus was centered on former Chief Minister and Ponda MLA Ravi Naik given that his sons have already embraced the BJP. In fact, Ravi’s name was doing the rounds on the social media platform before the Ponda MLA clarified and denied his entry into the BJP.

By noon, the focus began to shift on the Leader of Opposition. In the past, the social media was abuzz with speculations that Kamat is all set to return to the BJP, only to be rubbished by the Margao MLA to put speculations at rest.

Wednesday was no different for the Margao MLA. As he was closeted with the MMC officials, reviewing the developments works in Margao constituency, his phone did not stop ringing as he was called by his friends and well-wishers to verify and confirm the news, only to be told that his opponents are at work again to tarnish his image.

When The Goan called up Kamat in the evening, he just laughed upon being informed of the reports that he is set to embrace the BJP. “I have no comment to offer. This is not the first time that such misinformation has been deliberately spread by my opponents. There is no basis to these reports”, he said, while rubbishing the reports about his imminent entry into the BJP.
