The Captain of Ports has issued a set of directives for all barges and boats, excluding those engaged in essential services, currently operational within the Zuari and Mandovi Rivers in view of President of India Droupadi Murmu’s three-day visit to Goa.
These directions mandate a suspension of operations during specific dates and times for security reasons from August 22 to August 24, 2023. Any violation, the government has warned, will invite strict action.
As per details shared by the Department of Information & Publicity, on the first day of her visit, Murmu will lay floral wreath at Martyr’s Memorial, at Azad Maidan, and thereafter attend a civic reception hosted by the State Government in her honour.
On August 23, she will address the 34th Convocation of Goa University at Durbar Hall, at Raj Bhavan followed by interaction with vulnerable tribal groups after which the President will address the MLAs at Assembly Complex, Porvorim.
On the concluding day of her visit, she will visit Fort Aguada, the Basilica of Bom Jesus, and Shantadurga Temple before returning to Delhi.
Stipulated restrictions
From the stretch Donapaula, the vicinity of Raj Bhavan, and Caranzalem: Starting from 10am on August 22 to 2pm on August 24; Patto, Panaji to Miramar: Applicable from 3pm on August 22 to 6pm; Miramar to Ribandar Patto: Operational pause from pm on August 23 to 6 pm; Miramar-Betim-Nerul-Sinquerim-Panaji-Ribandar-Old Goa: applicable from 8am on August 24 to 2 pm.
