Efforts on to resolve drinking water crisis in Talsai: Sarpanch

SANGUEM

Kurdi Wadem Village Panchayat Sarpanch Chandan Unandkar has said that efforts are underway to resolve the drinking water crisis in Talsai village.

He stated that following representations by residents in 2023, local MLA Subhash Phaldesai initiated a proposal for a Rs 2.49 crore pipeline project to supply water from Colomba to Talsai.

Unandkar said the project has progressed through the approval process and is expected to be operational next year.

He added that the government has also sanctioned a Rs 5 lakh well restoration project under the 15th Finance Commission. The work, however, has been delayed due to the non-availability of specialised labourers required for the project.

Rejecting allegations of neglect, the Sarpanch said both the Panchayat and the MLA have taken concrete steps to address the issue and are committed to ensuring a permanent solution for the residents, who have continued to reside in the area for generations despite the lack of basic amenities.
