An Electricity department employee Uday Naik, from the Tuem sub-station died of electrocution when he was attending to a complaint of short circuit at a resort in Morjim on Sunday.
A resort in Morjim had called the Electricity Department regarding flashes seen in their meter box.
Uday Naik reached the resort and opened the meter box directly, when he got a shock. His neck was hurt. Since there was no ambulance on the spot, he was taken to the Siolim hospital by the resort manager, but he succumbed.
His mortal remains were handed over to the relatives in the evening, and he was cremated. Naik is survived by wife and three children.
