Ex-ANC cops to appeal against order on framing of charge in HC

PANAJI

The framing of the charge against seven former Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) policemen was adjourned by the Additional Sessions Judge, Mapusa after the accused respondents requested time to challenge the order before the High Court of Bombay at Goa.

The matter pertains to a raid by this ex-ANC team in February 2010 wherein the FIR accused Dudu of carrying multiple commercial quantities of drugs in Anjuna. The CBI, which on re-investigating the case filed a supplementary charge sheet suggesting that Dudu was implicated in the false case.

The Court, in its order last Friday, confirmed that there was ample material to frame charges against them while discharging Dudu of the offense. When the matter came up for hearing on Monday, the accused policemen pleaded time as they are moving the HC against the order. Accordingly, the Additional Sessions Judge adjourned the matter to August 28.
