The State government on Tuesday launched the e-zero FIR module to enable swift registration of financial fraud cases -- a key step in strengthening Goa’s cybercrime response.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant launched the module, which will allow instant e-FIRs for cyber fraud cases; along with PRISM (Proactive Risk Identification & Surveillance Mechanism), an intelligent fusion centre aimed at enhancing cyber surveillance and response.
As per the Ministry of Home Affairs framework, complaints relating to financial losses reported on the National Cyber Reporting Platform (NCRP) or through the 1930 cybercrime helpline will automatically lead to the registration of a zero FIR. These e-zero FIRs will be immediately routed to the jurisdictional cybercrime police stations. Complainants will be required to visit the cybercrime police station within three days to convert the zero FIR into a regular FIR.
The initiative -- unveiled at a state-level conference attended by Director General of Police Alok Kumar, senior police officers, district magistrates and representatives of key stakeholder departments and organisations “ was convened to chart a structured and time-bound roadmap for implementing the recommendations of DGsP/IGsP Conference 2025.
Details shared by the department revealed that the conference underscored the need for stronger inter-departmental coordination, capacity building of police personnel and adoption of a citizen-centric approach to policing to effectively address emerging security challenges. Senior Goa Police officers made thematic presentations on internal security, law and order, organised crime, traffic management, tourist policing, cybercrime, coastal security, disaster management, emergency response and police-community engagement.
The presentations highlighted emerging challenges, best practices and state-specific action plans.
The deliberations further placed special emphasis on effective implementation of the Nyaya Sanhita framework, improving coordination between investigation and prosecution, enhancing conviction rates, leveraging technology including AI-enabled tools, strengthening emergency response systems, improving coastal security preparedness and tightening road safety enforcement.
