A war of words broke out between Majorda panch member Sharlet Fernandes, backed by Congress Mahila Chief Beena Naik on one side and Majorda sarpanch Linet Vaz over the incident that occurred at the Panchayat meeting held last week.
The Congress Mahila Chief Beena on Monday morning slammed the BJP government for not looking after the safety and security of women elected representatives and demanded action in the alleged incident of abuse and threats issued to Majorda panch member Sharlet, who is the president of the Nuvem Congress Mahila block.
On Monday evening, Majorda Sarpanch Linet Vaz lashed out at the Congress Mahila Chief Beena Naik, asserting that the allegations made by Panch member Sharlet Fernandes are all fabricated and false.
In fact, the Majorda Sarpanch said she too is a woman and demanded to know how come Beena Naik has taken the side of the panch member.
The Colva police had last week registered FIR against the Majorda Sarpanch Linet Vaz, panch member Creson Antao and Secretary Custodio Faria in connection with a complaint lodged by Panch member Sharlet Fernandes.
In her complaint, Sharlet had alleged that the Sarpanch and the panch member had used abusive language against her, further alleging they had pounced on her during discussion on a construction file.
Sarpanch Linet and Panch member Creson Antao on Monday has rejected the allegations made by Sharlet as false and fabricated, adding that the claims made by the panch member were baseless.
