FIR registered against Santa Cruz local for insulting National Flag

Old Goa police have registered an FIR against a Santa Cruz local on charges of insulting the National Flag with a post on social media.

A complaint against the local was lodged by former deputy sarpanch of Santa Cruz Domnic Pereira.

In his complaint, Pereira had pointed out that the local had disrespected the National Flag and violated the Flag code by depicting the PM as a chameleon on the National Flag.

The Old Goa police informed that are yet to make any arrest as they are investigating the matter. The police also informed that the local was summoned to the police station to explain about the act.

The local was booked under section 500 of IPC and section 2 of Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act 1971.
