For BJP, politics is not business but social work, says Sawant

PORVORIM

Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated that BJP does not consider politics as a business but as social work and adheres to the principles of Antodaya, Sarvodaya and Gramodhaya.

“The BJP strives for the welfare of the downtrodden and when the development of poor people takes place automatically the village will be developed. Hence, it is the duty of all 31 members of BJP Mandal to ensure that the benefits of social welfare schemes reaches to all sections of the society,” said Sawant.

He was speaking at Socorro during a meeting of karyakartas organised by Porvorim BJP Mandal. Tourism Minister and Porvorim MLA Rohan Khaunte, BJP Goa President Damodar (Damu) Naik, BJP North Goa President Dayanand Karbotkar and office-bearers of Porvorim BJP Mandal were present on the occasion.

Stating that the BJP is focussed on winning  27 assembly seats in the 2027 assembly elections, the chief minister called upon all karyakartas to work hard to achieve this goal.

“Karyakartas are the strength of the party and their role is important in assembly elections,” he said.

Sawant further mentioned that the development of Porvorim is taking place at a rapid pace.

“The construction of Porvorim elevated corridor is one of the major development and its work is going on at fast pace. Though residents of Porvorim are presently facing a lot of hardships, they will heave a sigh of relief once the project is completed within next 8-10 months as the most of the traffic will start moving on the flyover,” said Sawant.

Commenting on employment, Sawant mentioned his government is duty bound to provide employment to all unemployed youth.

“The Human Resource Development Corporation will generate about 4,000 jobs in the course of next 2 years and around 300-400 youths from various constituencies will get jobs. The jobs provided by the corporation will offer all benefits such as increments, provident fund, maternity leave, etc. as is being offered to regular government employees,” said Sawant.

BJP State President Damu Naik and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte in their speeches urged the karyakartas to ensure that social schemes of their parity reach all sections of society and that they work of the betterment of the society.
