The Opposition Congress leaders from Goa were in a huddle with the party's central leadership in Hyderabad on Sunday where they were issued instructions to pull-up their socks and get battle ready for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls.
Opposition Leader Yuri Alemao, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) president, Amit Patkar and Girish Chodankar who is the permanent invitee to the Congress Working Committee (CWC) were part of the deliberations where the Central leadership issued a long list of do's and don'ts particularly with regard to building a narrative alongside allies of the Opposition INDIA bloc.
The Congress in Goa has been on the back foot ever since eight of its eleven legislators defected en-masse to the ruling BJP a little over a year ago and has been struggling to regain its organisational footing in the State.
The party is also seemingly witnessing an internal tussle between Patkar and Chodankar within the organisation here in Goa. The former had quit as GPCC president after the 2022 assembly poll debacle and Patkar came to replace him.
