Goa Police to ensure transferred personnel are relieved on time

PANAJI
With the largest rounds of reshuffling within Goa Police after a lull, Goa Police is expected to institutionalize routine transfers at least after a maximum of three years “ a practice long forgotten.

The Police Establishment Board on Friday transferred 704 police personnel including 36 police sub-inspectors and 22 head constables to news posting. Unlike in the past, where personnel and officers often remained in the same positions for years, Director General of Police Alok Kumar assured transfers would now be enforced more regularly.

“Police personnel will be rotated after a maximum of three years from their current position. There will be a rotation regularly,” he said, speaking to The Goan.

The DGP also allayed concerns over personnel/officers not being relieved after transfers or reverted to their former posts within days. “Stricter measures will be in place to prevent this. We will ensure that all transferred personnel are relieved in a timely manner and that no one returns to their previous postings soon after being transferred. It will be closely followed up,” he stated.

This transfer exercise is one of the largest in recent times. Earlier, 80 personnel including two Deputy Superintendents of Police, 28 police inspectors and 50 police sub-inspectors were transferred ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in February. Another batch of 67 personnel including eight sub-inspectors and 11 assistant sub-inspectors were moved to new postings in the subsequent month.
