The officials of the Economic Offences Cell (EOC), Crime Branch and District Police underwent a specialized training session on the detection of counterfeit Indian currency notes “ a bid to combat financial crimes by improving law enforcement capabilities and increasing awareness.
The session, conducted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), was attended by over 50 police personnel, besides the representatives from various banks.
The experts from RBI elaborated on the various security features of Indian currency notes and the standard operating procedures to be followed in case of detection of counterfeit currency.
“Goa Police, in coordination with all relevant agencies, continues to enhance its preparedness against financial crimes. We are committed to improving law enforcement capabilities through continuous learning and collaboration,” reads a statement issued by the department.
“Furthermore, Goa Police is dedicated to spreading awareness about counterfeit currency among law enforcement agencies, financial institutions, and the general public to ensure a more vigilant and informed society.”
