With focal theme ‘Ayurveda for One Health’, the 9th edition of World Ayurveda Congress and Arogya Expo is scheduled Goa during December. Organised by World Ayurveda Foundation the three-day conference and expo will be held at Kala Academy in Panaji on December 8-11 with an expected participation of around 4,000 delegates from more than 50 countries and all States in India. There are more than 350 Ayurveda patronized companies in International AROGYA Expo of World Ayurveda Congress (WAC).
“WAC is more than a platform to connect Ayurveda practitioners, medicine manufacturers, enthusiasts and academicians, and collect feedback, monitor progress and initiate missions accordingly. Having witnessed a highly welcoming response in the previous editions of WAC, Goa promises to be one of the largest congresses thus far,” stated Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant while announcing the proposed WAC event in December.
The CM also elaborated on projects to be initiated in the next two months, before WAC begins. “We are opening 41 wellness centres across Goa next month. Very soon Ayurvedic and Homeopathic doctors along with yoga practitioners would be appointed as community health officers in the State’s primary health centres. The work on AYUSH hospital in North Goa will be expedited along with the South Goa hospital in Margao as the government plans to open the hospital on December 8. Soon Ayurvedic treatments would be introduced at Raibandar hospital and four AYUSH OPDs would also be inaugurated before December 8,” declared Dr Sawant.
“With centres offering Ayurvedic therapies across the State, Goa can be a number one State in medical and wellness tourism,” hoped the Chief Minister. Pointing out that Ayurveda will change the life of every human being on the planet, the CM appealed to Goans to adopt this healthy way of living to keep illnesses away. “The next 25 years would be Amrutkal (golden period) for Ayurveda and India will take the lead in promotion of this healthy way of living across the world for the betterment of humanity under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” said Sawant.
Sabarnanda Sonowal, Union Cabinet Minister, Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Ports, Shipping and waterways, government of India, Shripad Yesso Naik, Minister of State for Tourism and Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Goa, health minister Vishwajit Rane, Vaidya Rajesh Kotech, secretary, ministry of AYUSH, govt of India, Tanuja Nesari, director, World Ayurveda Foundation, Dr P M Varier, chairman, National Organising Committee of 9th WAC and Arogya also spoke on the occasion. Ayurvedic practitioners, representatives of various Ayurvedic companies apart from students of Ayurveda were present on the occasion. Dr Dayanand Rao from GMC compered and Vaidya Rajesh Kotech, secretary, ministry of AYUSH, government of India proposed vote of thanks.
