The government and the police may contest it exists but information released by the most popular internet search engine 'Google Search' indicates that matka gambling is thriving: 'matka' was the most searched word from Goa.
According to 'Google trends', Goa topped among all other States of the country in terms of the number of searches made with the keyword 'matka' through the year 2024. Similarly, the words Goa, India, Satta, Kalyan, IPL, WhatsApp, Weather were searched most from Goa.
Also, when it came to travel destination searches, 'South Goa' ranked 10th after destinations Azerbaijan, Bali, Manali, Kazakhstan, Jaipur, Malaysia, Ayodhya, Kashmir and Georgia.
Goa has also ranked 10th for searches on 'Indian Premier League' which also happens to be the most searched keywords in the country in 2024, according to information released by Google.
Words such as T20 World Cup, Election Result 2024, Olympics 2024, Ratan Tata were trending in India at different points in time during 2024 and Goa ranked seventh in these searches for these words.
In the recipe category, 'mango pickle' was the second highest searched keyword in the country and Goa topped it. Goa also ranked first for searches using the keywords 'Best Bakery' and 'Ram Mandir' in the 'Near Me' section.
Every year, Google search engine publishes information on which word is most searched from each country, region or State in various categories such as movies, news, cooking, TV or Web Series, meaning of something, songs, tourist places, sports and Near Me. Goa also figured high in searches with the keyword 'Cervical Cancer'.
