GoaMiles marked a significant milestone on Saturday with the launch of Phase V of the Mukhyamantri Goencho Taxi Patrao (MGTP) Scheme at the Goa Hyundai showroom in Verna, pushing its fleet strength to over 300 taxis under the State-backed initiative. The event highlighted the government’s continued push toward sustainable mobility and entrepreneurship for Goan residents.
As part of the latest phase, 50 new CNG-powered taxis were handed over to fresh beneficiaries. The vehicles were presented by Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho in the presence of Maharashtra Transport Commissioner Vivek Bhimanvar and GoaMiles CEO Utkarsh Dhabade. Officials noted that the increasing shift to CNG vehicles is not only helping drivers reduce operational costs but also contributing to a cleaner transport ecosystem across the State.
Launched in association with the Directorate of Planning, Statistics & Evaluation in collaboration with GoaMiles, the MGTP scheme aims to help Goans’ transition into taxi ownership through subsidised financing, structured training, and technology-enabled support. The initiative has been widely recognised for enabling first-generation entrepreneurs and expanding organised taxi mobility across Goa.
Speaking at the event, officials emphasised that the addition of CNG taxis aligns with the State’s larger vision of lowering emissions and promoting reliable public transport options.
