Ports Minister Michael Lobo said the grants provided to schools to upgrade infrastructure was insignificant and assured to see that government hikes the grant-in-aid offered to all the schools in the State.
Lobo also said that primary education laid the foundation for the growth of a nation and vowed to provide good facilities to all educational institutes in the State.
“The government grant-in-aid provided to schools for infra development is very small. The amount is so small that it is not enough to even do the painting of the schools. We have to see that this money is officially increased from the government quota which is given to every school in the State,” Lobo said.
The Ports Minister was addressing a gathering at a function at St Michael’s school in Vagator, Anjuna. Parra Sarpanch Delilah Lobo and the management of the school were also present on the occasion.
Continuing, Lobo said every student must get the best of education and therefore it was imperative that all schools got good facilities.
“Without the primary education, you cannot come up. Primary education provides the foundation for the future generation. Today, India is developing only because education is free and compulsory,” he said.
“We have to provide whatever facilities are required in the school. It’s not only about good teachers but we also require good infra. I assure you, in the near future, we will see good educational facilities in the State,” he added.
The Ports Minister said he was committed to providing good infra facilities for all the schools within the vicinity of the Siolim constituency and the State.
“Whether it is e-library or better toilets, all infra facilities which are required in schools in Anjuna, Vagator, Verla-Canca within Bardez and Goa will be looked into,” he said.
