After relaxing curfew norms and allowing saloons to reopen from next week, the government is now considering allowing hotels to reopen with 50 per cent occupancy in the State.
“The government is thinking of giving relief to hoteliers with 50 percent occupancy. Order will be rectified with this relief...,” said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant.
The CM, on Friday, had extended the ongoing curfew in the State by another week with further relaxation in timings and throwing open saloons and outdoor sports complexes in the State.
However, the government had not taken any decision on reopening of hotels and bars and restaurants in the State.
The chief minister also said that the government will look into the demand of granting some relaxation for the owners of bars and restaurants.
“We will look into it,” he said, when questioned whether the government would relax norms and allow bars and restaurants to reopen.
The owners of bars and restaurants had prayed that they be allowed to restart business and had also made a representation to the State government.
Due to the State-imposed curfew to tackle the raging second wave, all hotels and bars and restaurants were shut for customers for more than two months now, although restaurant kitchens were allowed to function for takeaways.
The State level curfew which was ending on July 5 has been extended by another week till July 12.
As per new norms all shops have been allowed to remain open from 7 am to 6 pm while allowing saloons and outdoor sports complex/stadiums to open.
The district collectors are expected to issue detailed orders on the extension of the curfew.
