In order to simplify the process of getting required permissions for setting up of an industry, the Goa State Industrial Development Corporation (GSIDC) has come up with standard operating procedures (SOPs). With these SOPs, it is expected to get necessary permissions within 30-40 days.
“Now the entrepreneur has to submit its application to GSIDC and GSIDC will forward these applications to concern department for necessary NOCs and this process is expected to be completed in 40 days,” said Glen Ticlo, Chairman of GSIDC.
Earlier with no SOP in place, the entrepreneur had to approach each department like Health, Fire, Factory and Boilers to get necessary permissions. These departments were conducting inspections individually, but now with the SOPs in place, GSIDC will arrange for common inspections of all concerned departments on a single day.
After a backlash from various stakeholders, GSIDC finally decided to form the SOPs. As there was no SOP, the Corporation has fallen down in the ranking among nation’s industrial development corporations. “The SOPs will help improve the ranking of the GSIDC,” said Ticlo.
There are two SOPs, one is for getting a building licence, technical clearance and development permissions and other SOP is for getting an occupancy certificate.
The committee under the chairmanship of the Managing Director of GSIDC has formulated these SOPs.
Stating that SOPs will solve almost all problems of entrepreneurs, Ticlo has appealed to the businessmen to approach him if they still face any problem.
Meanwhile, Ticlo said that other processes in GSIDC will also be made online in the upcoming days. “Also there will be a single-window system for all documentation process afterward,” he added.
